The information was published in a press release issued by the Liberian Coordinating Mechanism (LCM), the body that coordinates Global Fund investments in the country, on 11 July 2024.&nbsp;\n\n    \n  \n\n\n  \n    \n      \nThe grant is intended to finance integrated interventions against HIV, tuberculosis, strengthening resilient health systems, covid-19 and malaria. It covers the period 2024-2026, and comes at a time when the country launched a malaria vaccine for children aged between 5 and 18 months in April 2024.&nbsp;\n\n    \n  \n\n\n  \n    \n      \n\u2018Our commitment is to improve healthcare and to train and build the capacity of healthcare professionals to ensure that they have the necessary skills,\u2019 said Mr Boakai.&nbsp;\n\n    \n  \n\n\n  \n    \n      \nAccording to a WHO report dating from 2022, Liberia&#8217;s progress in the fight against HIV\/AIDS is currently 66% for screening, 93% for treatment and 76% for care. The number of tuberculosis cases per 100,000 inhabitants has fallen from 240 in 2000 to 308 in 2022.&nbsp;\n\n    \n  \n\n\n  \n    \n      \nWith this new funding, the Global Fund&#8217;s cumulative disbursement to Liberia has reached $391.58 million since 2004, according to the LCM secretariat.\n\n    \n  \n\n","author":116,"featured_media":18968,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","template":"","tags":[1691,1293,779,1690],"location":[1689],"class_list":["post-24386","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tag-aids","tag-disease","tag-health","tag-hiv","location-liberia-4"],"short_url":"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3zM2ywb","have_related_news":"done","chapo":"This funding will bring the Global Fund's cumulative disbursement to Liberia to $391.58 million since 2004.
