In Ghana, the Boosting Green Employment and Enterprise Opportunities in Ghana (GrEEn) project will create employment opportunities for at least 5,000 people over the next four years.
The initiative is mainly aimed at young people, women and returnees. Its objective is to promote and support ecological projects and will be implemented within the framework of the European Union Emergency Trust Fund (EUTF) for Africa.
GrEEn will train and finance the leaders of green projects such as the recycling of plastic waste, the manufacture and distribution of ecological fireplaces or the production of composts. It will mainly be implemented in the Ashanti and Western regions.
This project receives joint funding of € 20.6 million from the EUTF, the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) and the SNV Netherlands Development Organization, the main partners in this project. It will offer a combination of grants, access to finance and skills development to promote the green and circular economy.
Support will also be offered to small and medium-sized enterprises active in the fields of agriculture, energy, water and sanitation in the form of incubation and acceleration of their development.
