Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée (CBG), one of the world leaders in the bauxite industry, has announced its support for Guinea's participation in the Dubai World Expo ("Dubai Expo 2020"). The exhibition lasts until March 31, 2022, and should have the participation of 25 million visitors, about double the Guinean population.

For the first time, the Republic of Guinea has a 200 m 2 pavilion in Dubai. This is a unique opportunity to showcase Guinea’s potential, particularly in growth sectors such as agriculture, livestock, mining, as well as tourism and culture. CBG is one of the players that made Guinea’s participation in this historic world event possible, thanks to Platinum sponsorship.

The General Manager of the Company, Souleymane Traoré, took part in the opening ceremony of the “Invest in Guinea” Forum (“GUIF”). He explained the merits and motivation of CBG’s support: “Very often when we talk about Guinea, and particularly about our company CBG, people tend to immediately think of bauxite – which is to a certain extent fair measure, but as we say very often, CBG is much more than bauxite. We are working to give a more human face to bauxite mining activities, through our actions in favor of the economic and human development of local communities, and of Guinea as a whole”.

And to Souleymane Traoré to specify that: “And this is in perfect harmony with the vision of the founding fathers of our company, whose ambition was to ensure that the bauxite potential of Guinea is valued in order to instill a development process all-out economic and human resources of Guinea, by towing the other economic sectors that promote sustainable growth”

Souleymane Traoré underlines that “Mines alone cannot guarantee the development of a country in a sustainable way. We need to diversify the economy. Invest in sectors such as agriculture, livestock, fishing, agribusiness. Encourage and promote entrepreneurship, which is one of the best levers that can be used to diversify a country’s economy, by creating a strong middle class in sectors that can sustain growth. »

To the Director General of the CBG to conclude: “By supporting Guinea’s participation in Dubai Expo2020, it is this ambition that we are nurturing: to carry the voice of Guinea in order to promote ‘the Guinea destination’ for viable and sustainable investments. This is what we have always been: a pioneer at the start, and today a leader bringing hope for the future”.
