    Zambia: China pressures IMF to grant Zambia $1.4 billion bailout

    Zambia has reached an agreement in principle with the IMF on an extended credit facility of $1.4 billion. But its disbursement remains subject to an agreement between Lusaka and its creditors on reducing the debt to sustainable levels.

    Niger is expected to record the strongest economic growth on the African continent in 2022

    In its latest report on the global economic outlook, the IMF raised its 2022 growth forecast for sub-Saharan Africa to 3.8%, despite inflationary risks. Like Niger, six other African countries are expected to register growth above 6% this year.
